Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry you are dealing with pain.
You might start with the Ten Steps from Patient to Person found in the Fall 2023 Chronicle, pages 22 and 23… it helped me a lot to put things into perspective. Find it here: Chronicle
We have updated our website, which will now allow visitors to download our up-to-date resources. We encourage you to utilize the many educational materials developed to help in the management of pain under RESOURCES (above). This includes specific conditions.
You may want to utilize the ACPA and Stanford Resource Guide to Chronic Pain Management . On pages 207-210, there are links to numerous resources.
Also, support groups can have a positive impact on health. If you do not already belong to a support group, you may want to consider joining one of the ACPA Groups (top right). Here you will get the support of others who feel like you do.
Please keep in mind it is the position of the ACPA that we do not give out medical advice. Pain management plans are between the person in pain and their healthcare team. We do not endorse procedures or medications.
Many of our members (including me) are extremely frustrated at the lack of access to quality pain care. I urge you to advocate for yourself and keep trying. The ACPA is fighting to change this!
We sincerely hope you find the support and resources that fit your specific need.
Take care,
The American Chronic Pain Association Team
